Welcome to my new website, Bernard Van Elegem Biodiversity Photography

This website provides a collection of wildlife and nature photographs illustrating the diversity of life in all it’s aspects. Visitors who show a general interest in biodiversity, someone looking for specific ground beetle or bird pictures,  or every-one who simply enjoys viewing nature images is welcome to browse the galleries.

The final goal of this website is offering a general overview of our planet’s biodiversity and showing a more specialized collection of birds, ground beetles and little known or difficult to observe species. I started to upload the first hundreds of my photographs on this website. I plan to upload most of my digital image collection in 2013, or at least some images from all the species, landscape types and ecosystems I’ve photographed digitally. This will be a few thousand of images.

I also owe a big analogue image collection, made on field trips to various  countries in Asia, Central Africa and South America. I hope to show regularly some images from these trips, but it will definitely take me several years to upload a representative view of the images from these countries. Several of the original slides still have to be scanned first, which is a time-consuming activity. If You have any particular requests for species, from the countries mentioned in my Stock Photography, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I will post regularly some field notes on my blog. This might be a specific story about a photograph, a general interesting ecological story about a species I have photographed, or just some interesting news from a recent field trip.
