Donkere Woestijnklapekster
-
Lanius excubitor algeriensis

Image ID:
923
Date:
30/12/2011
Location:
Bigoudine,
Morocco
Description:

Algeriensis is the Great Gery Shrike subspecies found along the coasts of North Africa.
The bird on this picture was ejecting a pellet. Most of the owls and birds of prey are known to throw up pellets, which contain hair, small bones or other difficult to digest parts of their prey. Shrikes are one of the few songbirds which show the same behaviour.
