This image shows the habitat of Carabus nodulosus. This localised habitat directive species occurs along forested mountain streams, at an altitude between 400 and 800 metres above sea-level. Sustainable populations are found where the humid alluvial zone along small and slowly flowing courses is broad enough. In the area shown on the picture tens of small sources on the hilly side along the mountain stream seemed to create a large area of soaked suitable habitat.
