Blue Whistling Thrush - Blauwe Fluitlijster - Myophonus caeruleus
The image of this Blue Whisteling Thrush was made just below Sela Pass. This mountain species is found in the breeding season at altitudes varying from 1000 metres till 4000 metres and more above sealevel. It is mainly found in moist forests in the vicinity of streams, but can also be found in moist dwarf shrub above the treeline.
Sela Pass is a high altitude mountain pass that connects the Buddhist city of Tawang with the rest of the country. This pass is situated at 4.175 metres above sealevel and is located between the towns of Bomdila and Jung in Western Arunachal Pradesh. The place is snowed in most of the year, and we were very to lucky that the pass had just become accessible after the long-lasting cold periode of the winter and early spring.
