This is an image of Bompu Camp at Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary. This was our second campsite at Eaglenest, where we spent four nights. It is located at an altitude of 1950 metres above sea-level. The Campsite itself is built around the old roadmenders houses, which have now turned into ruins, as the road is no longer in frequent use (the road was replaced by a new one, more to the west of the park). These ruins in the middle of the mountain rainforest scenary, give the place a quite surrealistic scenery.
The bird speciality around the campsite is the Ward's Trogon, for which Sundarview (2400 metres) is a very good locality. The lower elavations beneath Bompu are also a very good for finding the enigmatic Beautiful Nuthatch. Large Bamboo stands are found at higher altitudes then Sessni and hold specialities such as Blue-fronted Robin and Coral-billed Scimitar-babbler. We were very happy to see all the mentioned species and I was able to take decent picures of the Trogon and Nuthatch.
