Brown Lory - Duyvenbode's Lori - Chalcopsitta duivenbodei
Brown Lory is a very restricted range species. It is a lowland specialist, which is mainly restricted to the North West of Papua New Guinea (Geelvink Bay in West Papua and Astrolobe Bay in Papua New Guinea). The swamp forest, close to Nimbokrang is one of the best places to see this species in the wild. The birds often visit flowering trees and join mixed groups with other lory species.
On the picture you can see the brids hanging upside down. I spent two mornings at a big tree where the birds came regularly to feed and drink, and every time the lories showed up, I saw them showing this behaviour. Apperently, they seem to do this quite often.
