Description: 

This is a displaying male Arfak Astrapia, a bird with a range restricted to the Arfak Mountains in West Papua, where it occurs at altitudes above 1750 metres. The courtship of this species is very seldom observed and this is probably one of the first pictures documenting an adult male displaying.
