Here one can see the typical pattern on the belly of the Fire-bellied Toad. The red or yellow patches on the chest are not connected with the forelegs, and the patches on the lower belly are not connected with the hindlegs. These features and the abundance of white spots in the darker parts, distinguishes the Firebelleid Toad from its congener the. The Yellow-bellied Toad is more a montane or submontane species .The Fire-bellied Toad is a strict lowland species, which is seldom found above 250 metres above sea-level.
