Like most of the robin species in Papua, the Green-backed Robin is a difficult to observe species. They are shy and most often skulking in the dense undergrowth on steep slopes. As I spent several days in a hide at the dance ground of a Magnificent Bird of Paradise, I was lucky to be able to take pictures at close range from this inconspicuous species. The first two days I often heard the bird singing just behind my hide. Finally on the third morning the bird showed up in front of me.
