This spectacularly coloured Carabus auronitens belongs to the natio altkirchensis. This individual with a splendid fuchsia pronotum has been described as a forma individua 'ignifer', 'auropurpureus' or 'violaceopurpureus'. These reddish and fuchsia colour morphs are not uncommon in the forests around Altkirch.
