This species is also known in literature as Carabus arcensis or Eucarabus arcensis (Turin) or Morphocarabus arvensis (Rautenstrauch). Carabus arvensis is a widespread Palearctic species, that shows a lot of colour variations. This image shows three different individuals, which were hiding under the leaves: a coppery male, a purple male and a bluish female. They were found in the Gaume, Belgium, where the species can be locally abundant.
