This ground beetle, Blethisa multipunctata, was found on a stony or gravelly shore of a natural river, with adjacent muddy shores, vast wetlands and marshes in the surroudings. Although the species has a wide Palearctic and Nearctic distribution, it is always a localised species, due to it's specialised environmental demands. It is a stenotopic species of muddy and silty river and lake margins, which are subject to periodic inundation. It is also found on gravelly or peaty shores of upland lakes or rivers.
