Description: 

Carabus catenulatus is a restricted range species ranging form the North East of Italy into the West of Slovenia till the Soutf of Croatia and Bosnia. It occurs in forests on calcereous or sandy soils and can be found from the lowlands till the higher elevations in the mountains.
This is an almost entirely black coloured individual. Colour can vary form greenish-blue over dark blue, to purplish and almost black.
