On the background one can see the Common Red Soldier Beetle, Rhagonycha fulva. This image shows a common sight in the wealthy Mediterranean meadows, where the umbels are frequently visited by several beetle, bee and fly species, often with several indivduals at the at the same time.
The image also shows clearly how tiny the Jewel Beetle, Anthaxia millefolii, is - when compared to a fly and the Soldier Beetle. This individual was about 4mm long.
