Little Stint - Kleine Strandloper - Calidris minuta
This photograph shows an unusual image of a Little Stint swimming. I was walking along the river mouth in Oued Sous, when I heard a group of waders alarming and then flying towards me. I didn't even had the time to look with my binoculars at the birds, when suddenly I saw a bird falling like a stone into the river. I looked up and see a Peregrine Falcon flying away. The bird which fell down was this little stint, which was then swimming towards the shore. Apparently the bird must probably have been struck by the Peregrine, who probably got frightened when he saw me and then dropped his prey. When coming ashore the Stint seemed injured around his eye and chest, but after about ten minutes without showing any movement, he flew off again.
