This image was taken at a higher elevation of about 2000 metres above sealevel, in the vicinity of Camp Japan. Camp Japan, is the best place to see the higher altitude endemics of the Arfaks, such as the Black Sicklebill and the Arfak Astrapia. Pandanus trees attract a lot of fruiteating birds when their fruit is ripe. Amongst them: Fruit Doves, Birds-Of Paradise, Parrots, and also Cuscus Bears and smaller mammals such as rats.
