Description:
This tiger beetle is waiting for a prey. Tiger beetles are typical day-active ambush hunters, which have developped very big eyes. They can run very fast once they've spotted a potential prey.
Tiger beetles often hide in holes or burrows when the weather is not favourable for chasing their preys. Their preys often consist of other smaller insects, such as flies, ants, little spiders, grasshoppers, of which the majority is mainly active when temperature is high enough. At night or during cold and rainy days they remain in their burrows.
