Description:
Band-tailed or Pallas's Fish-eagle is another of the threatened wetland birds found in Kaziranga, where a few couples breed inside the park. The species has a huge range, from Kazakstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Southern Russia, Mongolia and China, into the Indian subcontinent. As most of the wetland species, the Pallas's Fish-eagle has suffered the past decades severe declines, due to habitat loss. The total population is estimated to be less then 10.000 individuals. The main breeding populations are found in Mongalia, China and the Indian subcontinent.
