When it becomes very hot and the sand reaches very high temperatures, these Tiger Beetles start hunting under the vegetation, where most of their prey tend to hide as well during the hottest parts of the day. On this iamge one can clearly see the specimen is hiding in the shadow of the vegegation cover.
