The birds on the right and on the left of the Purple Sanpiper are Turnstones. This is a typical sight during the winter along the breakwaters on the North Atlantic Coast. The Purple Sandpipers are often found in larger groups of Turnstones along our coasts during the winter, where they prefer to feed on the rocky shores or on the breakwaters. They winter only in the northern parts of the Atlantic area, the birds usually dont winter further south than the North of France.
