Image ID:
1425
Date:
27/06/2011
Location:
Lake Habema,
Snow Mountains,
West Papua,
Indonesia
Description:

This picture was made a little above Lake Habema (3224 m), at an altitude of about 3400 metres above sea-level. The area around the lake consists of a vast area of boggy grasslands adjacent to the lake, and steep slopes with dwarf trees and scrubs. On the slopes, open boggy areas, are also encountered frequently. Further away from the lake, the hills are covered with mossy forest.
One the picture you can see the dwarf scrub and alpine vegetation which is very rich in plant species.
