This picture was made a little above Lake Habema (3224 m), at an altitude of about 3300 metres above sea-level. The area around the lake consists of a vast area of boggy grasslands adjacent to the lake, and steep slopes with dwarf trees and scrubs. On the slopes, open boggy areas, are also encountered frequently. Further away from the lake, the hills are covered with mossy forest.
This picture shows a small fen on a plateau above the lake. On the boggy slopes around the lake, places with seepage containing iron are frequently encountered. This fen had an extremely bright orange color.
