This picture was made a little above Lake Habema (3224 m), at an altitude of about 3400 metres above sea-level. The area around the lake consists of a vast area of boggy grasslands adjacent to the lake, and steep slopes with dwarf trees and scrubs. On the slopes, open boggy areas, are also encountered frequently. Further away from the lake, the hills are covered with mossy forest.
This picture shows a small valley between two ridges, which debouches into the lake. The valley has a beautiful natural strcuture with the curving river, small ponds and vast bogs.
