In some forests close to Brussels, a very nice colour morph of Carabus auronitens can be found. Some authors consider it as the 'forma individua putzeysi'. Carabus auronitens f.i. putzeysi has much darker shields, which are almost black - sometimes with a bluish tinge.

11/01/2014This summer I observed at the Basque Coast in Spain, tens of tiny cuckoo wasps along a small sandy path between the grassy dune vegetation. When having a closer look at these shy shiny jewels I noticed an amazing activity of different bee and wasp species. -
