This species is also known in literature as Carabus arcensis or Eucarabus arcensis (Turin) or Morphocarabus arvensis (Rautenstrauch). Carabus arvensis is a widespread Palearctic species, that shows a lot of colour variations. This image shows a coppery female and a purple male. They were found in the Gaume, Belgium, where the species can be locally abundant.
