After having left Hotel Pohjan Tuli and Utsjoki, we drove Northwards into Norway and then towards Batsfjord, about 200 kilometres more to the North. When we had reached Norway, it started to snow severely, and it became quite scary to drive.

24/04/2016In 2009, Erika and I made a short winter trip to Northern Finland and the Varanger Fjord in Norway. We picked out the first week of April, for the simple reason that we had some time for a trip during the Eastern Holidays. -
23/04/2016After our mind-blowing Siberian Ground Squirrel Experience, we hit the road towards our next destination, Martinselkonen. After again a very short night and quite a hassle to find the right dirt road towards the Russian border, we reached in the early afternoon Martinselkonen. -
21/04/2016In 2007, during the midnight summer period, Erika and I spent 9 days in Central Finland. Main target was to observe some of our mythical Boreal birds, such as Great Grey Owl and Capercaillie, as well as Brown Bears and much more interesting species. -
17/04/2016In November 2015, I spent four days in the Gaume, the most Southern part of Belgium. The region still holds some vast tracts of old growth forest between Virton, Orval and Étalle.
